When using your kettle, basic safety precautions
should always be followed, including the following:
1. Read all instructions carefully, even if you are
familiar with the appliance.
2. Close supervision is necessary when any
appliance is used by or near children.
3. Before connecting the kettle, check if the voltage
indicated on the appliance corresponds with the
mains voltage in your home. If this is not the
case, contact your dealer and do not use the
kettle.
4. Switch off and unplug from the outlet before
lling, emptying or cleaning, or when not in use.
5. Do not overll as boiling water may be ejected.
The maximum level is marked inside the kettle.
6. Do not operate or place any part of this
appliance on or near any hot surface (such as
gas or electric burner or in a heated oven).
7. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a
table or counter. Do not let the cord touch hot
surfaces.
8. Never yank on the cord as this may damage
the cord and eventually cause a risk of electric
shock.
9. If the supply cord of this appliance is damaged,
it must only be replaced by a repair shop
appointed by the manufacturer, because special
purpose tools are required.
10. Avoid touching hot kettle surfaces - use the
handle and the knobs.
11. To avoid possible steam damage, turn the spout
away from walls or cabinets when operating the
kettle.
12. If operated on wood furniture, use a protective
pad to prevent damage to delicate nishes.
13. To avoid scalding, always ensure the lid is
correctly positioned before operating.
14. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed whilst
heating.
15. Extreme caution must be used when moving the
kettle containing hot water. Never lift the kettle by
it’s lid. Always use the body handle.
16. Do not switch your kettle on if it is empty.
17. To protect from electrical hazard, do not immerse
this kettle or cordset in any liquid.
18. Use the kettle only with the supplied base unit.
Do not use the base unit for other purposes.
19. To protect against re, do not operate in the
presence of explosive and/or ammable fumes.
20. A kettle should not be left connected to a wall
socket when the room temperature is likely to
fall to outdoor winter temperatures. At sub-zero
temperatures the automatic control thermostat
may reset to boil and energize the element.
21. Do not use the kettle for any purpose other
than heating water. Other liquids or food will
contaminate the interior.
22. This product has not been designed for any
other uses than those specied in this manual.
23. This appliance is not intended for use by
persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack
of experience and knowledge, unless they have
been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance by a person responsible for
their safety.
24. Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the appliance.
WARNING:
Compare the local voltage with the voltage declared
on the device.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
• Prior to rst use, clean the kettle by going
through several boiling cycles, using clean water
with each cycle and lling the kettle (3) to its
upper marking.
OPERATION
• Place the cordless base (6) on a rm and level
surface.
• Pour the desired amount of clean water into the
kettle (3). During operation, do not touch any part
of the kettle except the handle. Ensure that the
cover (1) is properly closed. The amount of water
can be seen on the lling level on the outside of
the kettle. Always pay attention to the minimum
and maximum levels and ensure that the cover
(1) is properly and rmly closed.
• Position the kettle in such a way on the sub base
(5) that the underside of the kettle ts precisely
into the contact on the base.
• Insert the plug into a wall socket.
• The buzzer will sound a beep when the kettle is
plugged in.
If no kettle is on its base the LED will display
“EO”.
If you place the kettle on its base the LED will
display “OF”.
The LED will display “OF” and the buzzer will
sound a beep after the water is boiled. Take the
kettle from its base, the LED will display “EO”
and the buzzer will sound a beep.
“EO” means that there is no kettle on the base; if
you press a button there will be no function and
the buzzer will sound a beep.
“OF” means that the appliance is in standby
mode; if you press a button the buzzer will sound
a beep.
• Press the ON/OFF button once, the red indicator
illuminates and the kettle starts working
immediately, while the display shows “ON”. The
power will automatically cut off when the water
is boiled. You can stop the kettle anytime by
pressing the ON/OFF button again; the indicator
light will turn off.
• To keep the water warm, press the “PROG”
button; the red indicator light is off and the blue
light turns on. The kettle still works and the
numbers ashing on the display remind you to
enter the “thermostat mode”. Press the “TEMP+”
or “TEMP-” buttons to set the temperature
(temperature range: 50°C-95°C). To change the
thermostat setting, rst press the “PROG” button,
then press the “TEMP+” or “TEMP-” buttons to
change the setting.
• In the temperature range of 85°C-100°C the
heating element will cut off after approx. 15
seconds if the temperature has stopped rising
at a certain temperature. To change the setting,
rst press the “PROG” button, then press the
“TEMP+” or “TEMP-” buttons to change the
setting.
• In warming mode the appliance will automatically
switch off after 2 hours.
WARNING: Do not leave the electric kettle
unattended during operation!
• Pour the hot water safely through the spout into
another container.
• This kettle is equipped with a safety cut-out to
protect it from damage in case of inappropriate
use, should the appliance be accidentally
operated without water or if all the water has
evaporated. The safety cut-out will automatically
switch off the heating element.
• In this case remove the plug from the wall
socket immediately and rell the kettle after an
adequate cooling period, about 15-20seconds.
Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp
cloth or sponge. Remove stubborn spots with a
cloth moistened with mild liquid detergent. Do not
use abrasive scouring pads or powders. Never
immerse the kettle in water or other liquids.
From time to time depending on the nature of your
water supply, a lime scale deposit is naturally formed
and can be found mostly adhered to the heating
element and reduces the heating capacity. The
amount of lime scale deposited (and subsequently
the need to clean or descale) largely depends on
the water hardness in your area and the frequency
with which the kettle is used.
Limescale is not harmful to your health. But if
poured into your beverage, it can give a powdery
taste to your drink. Therefore, the kettle should be
descaled periodically as indicated below:
• Should the appliance switch off before reaching
the boiling point, then this is a sign that
decalcifying is necessary.
• Any regular descaling agent may be used,
provided the relevant instructions are observed.
Do not ll the kettle to the upper mark to avoid
spillage if the descaling agent causes the water
to foam.
• To clean the kettle thoroughly of any
decalcication residues let it go through several
boiling cycles using clean water with each cycle.
Rinse the kettle with clean water afterwards.
The 360° connector between the kettle and its base
means that the kettle can be located at any point
on the base. This is ideal for left and right-handed
users as the kettle can be positioned conveniently
on your kitchen counter.
